Two friends, one label, no fine print

Larkfield Wellness Group, LLC started in 2016 in a rented office above a hardware store in Montpelier, VT, and we are still in the same town. Memocept is the product we built first and the one we are still known for.

How it started

Elise Rowntree and Trevor Baines met at a community pharmacy counter, on opposite sides of it. Elise was a buyer for a regional health food chain and Trevor had spent eleven years as a formulator for contract manufacturers, which meant he had seen exactly how a supplement gets made and exactly how a label gets written to say as little as legally possible. They had the same complaint. Customers would come in holding a bottle, turn it over, and find a proprietary blend where the amounts should be.

Trevor's argument was simple: if the amounts are respectable, you print them, and if you are hiding them, there is a reason. Elise's argument was that nobody was selling a straightforward daily capsule for people in their forties, fifties and sixties who were not chasing a stimulant high, just trying to stay sharp through a working day. Memocept came out of those two arguments meeting in the middle.

What we decided at the start

Three decisions, made before the first bottle was filled, and none of them has changed.

Every amount gets printed. All seven actives in Memocept carry a number. It costs us the ability to reformulate quietly, which is exactly the point.

One price, no subscription. We have never run a free trial that converts into a monthly charge. You pay once, we ship once, and if you want more you come back on your own terms.

Direct only. Selling through marketplaces means losing control of storage, age and price within a season. We would rather sell fewer bottles and know where each one has been.

How we source and make it

Memocept is produced in the United States by a contract manufacturer that is registered with the FDA and audited against current Good Manufacturing Practice standards. Raw materials arrive with a certificate of analysis, and finished lots are checked for identity, potency and microbial safety before they are released to us. Ingredients are sourced globally, because the best material for a given active is not always domestic, and the finished capsule is made here.

We are a small company and we do not pretend otherwise. There is no laboratory in Montpelier with our name on the door. What there is: a formulator who has spent two decades reading certificates of analysis, a support desk of four people, and a warehouse that ships within a business day.

Why the guarantee is 60 days

Because a formula built on circulation and energy metabolism does not announce itself in three days. Thirty days is the honest minimum for judging it, and sixty gives you a real month of use plus time to think. If we offered a fortnight, we would be counting on you not getting around to it. We would rather refund the people it does not suit and keep the ones it does.
